Visiting Dubai In July
There are pros and cons when it comes to visiting Dubai in July. July isn’t touristy at all, which is great, but the reason it’s not touristy is that it is extremely hot. The average high temperature in July is 106 degrees Fahrenheit and it’s been known to reach 119 degrees. Almost everyone in the city moves indoors during these hot months, only meandering out in the evenings when the temps cool to the high 80s. However, if you can stand the heat, July is a very cost-effective time to visit Dubai. Flights and hotels are much cheaper, and visitors will have much easier access to everything they want to experience, without fighting crowds of tourists.
What To Wear In Dubai In July
Because of the extreme heat, tourists may be tempted to wear as little as possible during their visit. But it’s important to keep in mind that Dubai is still a fairly modest city, especially in public spaces. The general rule of thumb is that knees and shoulders should be covered in public, and nearly everything should be covered in religious spaces like mosques. Since it will be exceptionally hot, be prepared with light, cotton garments that are easy to layer on and remove when possible. As for the beach, typical beachwear is acceptable, so whatever you’re comfortable in should be fine. Just remember to have something to throw on over your swimsuit if you plan on wandering from the beach into more public spaces.
What’s Happening During July In Dubai
Although the city empties of tourists during July and August, Dubai still holds events and gatherings that would be enjoyable for visitors if they happen to stick around. The religious holidays Arafat Day & Eid Al Adha typically take place during this time. The Muslim community will celebrate Eid (also known as the Festival of the Sacrifice) during the last few weeks of July, depending on the moon phases.
Also, during the summer months, Dubai Sports World keeps locals and guests entertained despite the heat by moving everything indoors! Visitors can find parkour courses, Ninja Warrior courses, and basketball and football games all happening inside the Dubai World Trade Center.
But sports aren’t the only thing Dubai moves indoors. The farmer’s markets also move to an indoor location at Circle Mall in Jumeirah Village Circle. Known as “Ripe Markets,” guests will find everything that makes the traditional farmer’s market so popular, but without the stifling heat.
